Floral MonstrositiesFloral Monstrosities is a series of digital illustrations inspired by fantastical absurdities.
1st Edition
These impossible mythical creatures were made first by a collage of photographs, using a combination of stock images and my own photography to capture the humanoid, botanical beings. I took the frankensteined photo collages and used bright, vibrant coloring inspired by childhood television shows to create cartoonish, child-like figures with simple line work.
2nd Edition
The second edition veered away from using reference images or fixed scales, and relied on an intuitive process of designing the humanoid botanical characters. These works are particularly inspired by the low art movement, following my desire to create these creatures, simply because they provide me with a sense of healing and contentment.
